So close to Christmas, we found the usual Airport Hotels overpriced and over busy, so I went in search of something new. Carlton Dublin Airport Hotel was quite a find!
Although we were staying for ...
just one night before flying to San Francisco, everything was first class. There were plenty of car parking spaces for us to choose from and I was able to deliver both our luggage and my disabled Mother directly to the door of the hotel before parking.
Check-in was seamless and we were quickly whisked to the comfort of our twin room. I was more than impressed with the two large beds which were very comfortable indeed and dressed with pristinely clean linen. The room was immaculate with a gigantic flat screen tv, tea & coffee facilities, ironing board and indeed all the facilities someone would want when flying for business or pleasure. The bathroom, too, was very spacious with big white fluffy towels and plenty of fragrant toiletries.
Venturing downstairs for dinner, which was served in the bar, we both enjoyed a hearty meal. My Mother, who is quite a picky eater, cleared her plate (much to my surprise) and enjoyed it so much that if there had been a pattern on the plate she would have cleared that, too;-)
We both slept soundly until we were awoken by our 5am wake up call, which was precisely on time. While waiting in the lobby for the Hotel's Airport shuttle bus I asked if coffee was available. Within a short few moments two steaming cups of fragrant, freshly ground coffee arrived at our table, without additional charge.
As a result of our comfortable stay, we checked in for our flight fully relaxed, instead of frazzled to pieces from a nerve wracking overnight drive from Waterford.
Returning from San Francisco five days later, the Carlton shuttle bus was there to greet us and whisked us back to the hotel where our car was waiting, safely, to bring us back home.
You can bet that the Carlton will be my hotel of choice for future airport stays and indeed other trips to that part of Dublin. ---
