Howth Harbour
Howth, a fishing and yachting port, 25 minutes from Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. It is widely regarded as one of the prettiest seaside villages in Dublin.
This vivacious village is famous for its numerous fish restaurants and bars and is easily accessible by the DART or 102 bus routes. Hike along the numerous walking trails with breath-taking views or simply feast on traditional fish ‘n chips on the pier overlooking Ireland’s Eye. If visiting on the weekends Howth Market is awash with organic produce, fresh baked goods, jewellery and antiques.
When it comes to watching the sunset over Dublin, there is no better vantage point than the Howth cliff walk. Through paved walkways, laneways, and solid earth paths, the full loop is 12km and takes approx. 2.30 hours to complete but there are options for shorter routes depending on where you choose to begin. Click here to find five different Howth walk options with maps and routes. Enjoy the views, especially of Ireland’s Eye, Lambay Island, and the whole of Dublin Bay.
This hidden gem is located on the opposite side of Howth harbour.
While it isn’t sandy, it is pretty and has some nice views looking toward the Howth Cliffs and across the water to Ireland’s Eye.
There’s plenty of parking around the harbour and access to the beach is down a steep set of stone steps just around the corner from the King Sitric restaurant.
Balscadden is also popular with seals and it’s pretty common to see their heads bobbing up and down in the sea!
